EXPRESSIONS OF INTEREST – APPOINTED BOARD MEMBERS COUNTRY FOOTBALL WA Tue, January 23, 2024 - 8:27 AM

Country Football WA (CFWA), the governing body of country football in regional Western Australia, is seeking expressions of interest (EOI) from persons wishing to be considered for appointment as a board member.  The role of the CFWA is to control and formulate policy which oversees the promotion, development, and management of country football throughout the State.

CFWA revised its Constitution in 2023 to structure a new governance model which has onboarded regional Junior Leagues from the start of season 2024. Due to recent resignations, there are currently two vacancies on the board which will be filled as per section 35.1(a) of the CFWA constitution and in line with section 39 of the Associations Act.

As the CFWA board strives to be as diverse as the communities we represent we actively encourage applications from women, indigenous and multicultural candidates, who can assist in leading both CFWA through this period of transformation, support the good governance and accountability of our organisation and foster strong relations across all stakeholders within our state.

Experience and exposure to community sport, not just football, will be highly regarded. A level of participation and engagement is required with stakeholders as well as the ability to contribute actively at board level with independence and objectivity.

Of the two positions to be filled, one will be for a term of one year, expiring in February 2025, whilst the second will expire in February 2026.  The successful appointees and terms will be determined solely by the current CFWA board.  At the conclusion of each term, the appointed member will be eligible to nominate for the next or future elections, as per the CFWA constitution.

The position of board member is not remunerated. Details of board member duties and obligations are available – please contact wacountry@wafc.com.au for details.

Anyone who wishes to be considered for appointment to the CFWA Board of Directors must submit a one-page cover letter along with a current curriculum vitae (CV) to the CFWA Office at wacountry@wafc.com.au by 29 January 2024.

Note: A submission of an expression of interest conveys consent for the cover letter, curriculum vitae, to be circulated to the current CFWA Board members after the EOI’s close.

For the avoidance of doubt, EOI’s must be received no later than 1.00pm on Monday 29 January 2024.
